Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 22, 2026
Last updated: August 11, 2026
Spotlert is operated by Cybernizer LLC, doing business as Spotlert (“Spotlert,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information Spotlert collects, how it is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you when you use the Spotlert website, mobile application, and related services.
1. Contact Us
For privacy questions or requests, contact:
Email: privacy@spotlert.com
For general support:
Email: support@spotlert.com
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create or manage an account, we may collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your password in hashed form
- Email-verification and password-reset information
- Account status and notification preferences
- Session and device information used to keep you signed in securely
We do not store your password in plain text.
Location and Map Information
Spotlert may request access to your foreground location so the app can center the map, help you choose a nearby location, submit parking information, or save the parked location of a shared vehicle.
Location permission is optional. You may deny permission and use manual map positioning where that functionality is available.
Spotlert does not use continuous background location tracking based on the current app design.
We may store precise location information when you intentionally submit or confirm:
- A parking-spot report
- A parking-group boundary
- A saved shared-vehicle parking location
- A map-based location or description
Parking coordinates and parking-group boundaries may be visible to approved members and administrators of the applicable parking group.
Private household vehicle locations are visible only to authorized members of the applicable household. They are separate from community parking reports and are not limited by parking-group boundaries.
For shared vehicles, the saved coordinates represent the location selected or confirmed by a household member. We may also store an address or user-entered location description, but the displayed address is descriptive and may not exactly match the saved coordinates.
Spotlert does not continuously track a shared vehicle, its driver, or household members. A vehicle location is recorded when an authorized household member deliberately uses the applicable vehicle-location feature.
Group and Parking Activity
When you create, join, or participate in a parking group, we may collect:
- Group names and descriptions
- Group membership and role information
- Join requests and optional messages
- Group boundaries and settings
- Parking reports and status updates
- Availability counts
- Vehicle-fit information
- Notes and timestamps
- Hold requests, responses, and optional messages
Approved group members may see your name and the activity you submit within that group.
Households and Membership
When you create, join, administer, or participate in a household, we may collect:
- Household name
- Household membership and role information
- Membership dates
- Invitations sent to email addresses
- Invitation status, expiration, and revocation information
- Information about who created or managed an invitation
Household invitations are currently designed to expire after seven days. Expired and revoked invitation records may be retained temporarily for operational or security purposes and pruned according to the Service's implemented retention process.
Household membership is separate from membership in a parking group.
Shared Vehicle Information
When you use My Vehicles or other household vehicle features, we may collect:
- Vehicle name
- Optional make, model, year, color, license plate, or other identifying label you provide
- Whether the vehicle is currently marked as parked or in use
- Saved parking coordinates
- A descriptive parking address, when available
- Optional parking notes or location hints
- Which household member parked, took, or updated the vehicle
- Relevant dates and timestamps
- Historical vehicle parking records
Previous saved vehicle locations may be retained as household vehicle history rather than automatically deleted when a newer location is saved.
Vehicle Mileage
If you use the mileage feature, we may collect:
- The manually entered odometer reading
- The household member who entered or updated it
- The date and time it was entered
Mileage is entered manually by users.
Spotlert does not automatically read mileage from the vehicle, estimate mileage from driving activity, or continuously monitor a vehicle's odometer.
Vehicle Reminders
If you use vehicle reminders, we may collect:
- Reminder title
- Optional reminder note
- Due date
- Due mileage
- Repeat interval
- The user who created or updated the reminder
- Reminder completion information
- The user who completed a reminder
- Completion date and time
- Mileage supplied at completion
- Reminder completion history
- Reminder notification preferences
Reminder completion history may be retained as part of the shared household vehicle record.
Membership and Access Decisions
Parking-group owners and administrators may approve, reject, remove, or manage parking-group members.
Household owners and administrators may invite, approve, retain, remove, or manage household members according to the features available to them.
Users who control membership are responsible for deciding whom they invite, approve, retain, or remove.
Approving or inviting another person may give that person access to information shared within the applicable parking group or household, including location-related or other private household information.
You should only approve people you trust to have access to that information and should remove access when it is no longer appropriate.
Spotlert provides membership and access-control tools but does not independently verify the identity, relationship, trustworthiness, or suitability of every person a user chooses to approve.
Notifications and Device Information
If you enable push notifications, we may collect:
- A push-notification token
- Device platform, such as iOS, Android, or web
- Notification delivery and failure information
- Notification type
- Related group, household, vehicle, report, reminder, or other internal identifiers
Push notifications may include information about parking activity, membership activity, holds, shared vehicles, or vehicle reminders.
For household vehicle-state push notifications, Spotlert is designed not to include the vehicle's saved parking coordinates, street address, or private parking note in the push message or its navigation payload. Authorized household members can retrieve the vehicle location after opening Spotlert.
Vehicle-reminder push notifications likewise do not require disclosure of the vehicle's saved parking location.
You may disable notifications through Spotlert settings where available or through your device settings.
Contact and Support Information
If you contact us, we may collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your subject and message
- Relevant account, group, household, vehicle, or reminder information
- Limited device and app information needed to investigate the issue
- Request IP address for security and spam prevention
Technical and Security Information
We may collect limited technical information needed to operate and protect the Service, including:
- IP address
- Browser or app user agent
- Session and cookie information
- Login and security activity
- Error and diagnostic information
- Request timing and reliability data
- Aggregate product-usage metrics
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and maintain user accounts
- Authenticate users and manage sessions
- Verify email addresses and reset passwords
- Operate private parking groups and group administration
- Display maps, boundaries, and parking reports
- Operate private households and membership controls
- Save and display shared-vehicle parking locations
- Maintain shared-vehicle state
- Record manually entered mileage
- Operate vehicle reminders and completion history
- Send notifications and reminders
- Process support and privacy requests
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Diagnose technical problems
- Improve reliability and understand aggregate usage
- Enforce our Terms of Service
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect users, Spotlert, and others
4. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal information.
With Other Parking-Group Members
Approved parking-group members may see information connected to group activity, including:
- Your name
- Your role
- Parking reports
- Parking coordinates
- Notes and timestamps
- Hold requests and responses
Group administrators may see additional membership and moderation information.
With Household Members
When you participate in a household, current authorized household members may see information shared through that household, which may include:
- Your name and household role
- Shared vehicles
- Vehicle state
- Saved vehicle parking locations
- Descriptive addresses and parking notes
- Who parked or took a shared vehicle
- Manually entered mileage
- Vehicle reminders
- Reminder status and completion history
Household information is not made available to other Spotlert users merely because they belong to the same parking group or are geographically nearby.
Household owners and administrators decide whom to invite, approve, retain, or remove. Users should consider carefully whom they authorize because approved household members may gain access to private shared-vehicle information.
With Service Providers
We use service providers to operate Spotlert. Depending on the feature used, information may be processed by providers such as:
- Google Firebase and Firebase Cloud Messaging
- Apple Push Notification service
- Google Maps
- Apple Maps
- OpenStreetMap services
- Cloudflare
- Hosting and infrastructure providers
- Email-delivery providers
- Expo Application Services
These providers process information according to their own terms, privacy policies, and service settings.
For Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law or legal process
- Protect users or the public
- Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Enforce our agreements
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Spotlert or others
Business Transfers
If Spotlert is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- Provide the Service
- Maintain security
- Resolve disputes
- Comply with legal obligations
- Enforce our agreements
Parking reports, group activity, household information, shared-vehicle parking history, reminder information, reminder completion history, and related records may remain while the applicable account, group, household, vehicle, or feature remains active, or until removed through available deletion processes.
Shared-vehicle parking history may remain when a newer location is saved because prior locations form part of the household's vehicle history.
Reminder completion history may remain as part of the applicable vehicle's shared record.
When a member leaves a household or deletes their account while the household survives, shared household records may remain while personal attribution associated with the deleted account may be removed or no longer displayed, depending on the record and applicable system behavior.
Some information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, support records, previously delivered communications, or service-provider systems after deletion.
Aggregate information that does not directly identify you may be retained.
6. Account, Vehicle, Household, and Group Deletion
You may delete your Spotlert account from the Settings area of the app.
You may also request deletion without reinstalling the app by visiting:
https://spotlert.com/account-deletion
We may require reasonable verification before processing a deletion request submitted through the website.
Deleting your account may remove:
- Your profile information
- Authentication sessions
- Push-notification tokens
- Parking-group memberships
- Household memberships
- Notifications
- Reports you authored
- Hold requests you made
- Other information associated directly with your account
If you own a shared parking group or household that has another eligible administrator, the group or household may remain active and ownership may transfer according to the Service's ownership rules.
If you own a shared parking group or household that has other members but no eligible administrator, you may be required to promote an eligible member or transfer ownership before account deletion can be completed.
A parking group or household with no eligible successor may be deleted as part of the applicable account or ownership process.
When an account is deleted but a household survives, shared household records may remain for the continuing members. For example, historical vehicle-location or reminder-completion records may remain while attribution to the deleted account is removed or no longer displayed where the system supports that behavior.
Deleting a vehicle removes its associated vehicle data according to the Service's implemented deletion process, including its shared vehicle locations and reminder records.
Deleting a household removes the household and its associated shared vehicle data according to the Service's implemented deletion process.
Deleting a vehicle reminder removes the reminder and associated reminder-notification records according to the Service's implemented deletion process.
Removing a person from a household ends that person's current authorized access through that membership. Information they were previously authorized to view may already have been displayed, delivered, cached, or otherwise received on their device.
Some information may remain temporarily where needed for security, legal compliance, technical operations, backups, or records already delivered to third parties.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access personal information we maintain about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where applicable
- Request a copy of certain information
- Submit a complaint to a privacy authority
To submit a privacy request, email privacy@spotlert.com.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
You may also manage certain information directly through Spotlert, including household membership, notification preferences, vehicle information, mileage, and reminders, depending on your role and the features available to you.
8. Location and Notification Permissions
You can control location and notification permissions through your device settings.
Denying location permission does not prevent all use of Spotlert, but some map features may be less convenient and may require manual location selection.
Disabling notifications prevents future push notifications on that device but may not remove notifications already delivered.
Certain notification preferences may also be available within Spotlert, including preferences for household vehicle updates and vehicle reminders.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information.
These measures may include:
- Password hashing
- Encrypted network connections
- Access controls
- Authentication tokens
- Restricted group and household access
- Rate limiting
- Secure device storage
- Operational monitoring
Platform administrator status does not automatically grant membership-based access to private household vehicle information through normal household access controls.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because approved parking-group and household members may receive information shared within those areas, users should carefully manage whom they approve and should remove access when it is no longer appropriate.
10. Children's Privacy
Spotlert is not directed to children under 18.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact privacy@spotlert.com.
11. International Processing
Spotlert is operated from the United States.
Information may be processed or stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.
Those locations may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live.
12. Third-Party Services
Spotlert may rely on third-party maps, websites, notification services, email services, hosting providers, and related services.
We are not responsible for the privacy, security, availability, or accuracy of third-party services.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice when required.
